Spatial and lighting design for a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gym in a Peckham railway arch.

Most gyms are full of signs telling you what to do. Here, the space does the asking: a five-metre-wide entrance mat descends into double-width bleacher seating, inviting visitors to sit, remove their shoes and spectate. Bespoke three-metre scrim lights were built on the simple logic that bigger is better, creating a clear distinction between training and transitory areas. A custom sound system by Obrigado Sound integrates lighting that can shift from functional to atmospheric, while metallic finishes separate the changing spaces from the main training area. In a small act of rebellion against the BJJ industrial complex, the bathrooms are painted and lit in the brand’s hot pink.

Spatial and lighting design and creative direction for the Bubble, a temporary installation and event space created with HQI for the Casson+On weekend music festival at Casson Square, South Bank. Conceived as a private space in public space, the inflatable structure was filled with haze, fog, light and sound, operating between stage((3)), club((4)), installation and temporary architecture.

A soft redesign of Mother’s Redchurch Street office, transforming a former print shop and coworking area into a unified first-floor workspace. We opened up the existing layout to improve light, flow and atmosphere, drawing visual cues from lightbox apparatus and repurposing storage into new meeting and work areas.

Set and environmental lighting design for Calvin Klein’s Spring 2025 campaign featuring NJZ, formerly known as NewJeans. The campaign was built around a series of denim-clad set pieces, including a DMX-controlled illuminated padded cell, a convertible car and a bunny. Oversized CK Jeans eyelets, buttons and hardware were developed by us across the pieces as both functional and decorative details.

Reimagining of the interior and retail experience for the third iteration of cult experimental concept store LN-CC.

Rather than dividing the store into a sequence of enclosed rooms, the redesign opens up the full scale of the space, using gaps, apertures, mirrors and unexpected sightlines to allow light and views to extend between areas. Practical materials including tile grout, polycarbonate roofing and raw fireproof MDF are used throughout, treating design and production as part of the same creative act.

The project also embraces the influence of digital design tools on the physical environment. Across the store, digital design processes are translated into physical space, with forms intersecting, overlapping and passing through one another with the strange indifference of objects arranged in software.
